Using the ‘Re-Touch’ Window.

Stop MotionMaker Advance ‘Re-Touch window can be used for many functions from drawing, motion blur, overlaying on the displayed image to ‘Colour Balancing’ a chroma-key background. The following tutorials demonstrates some possible uses for these functions.   Note: this Colour balancing or wire removal of the chromakey is not necessary in the new 1.8 version of SMMAdv, but still can be used for other effects.  See the new tutorials for more information.

Drawing

In this tutorial, we will remove a support wire with the Re-Touch draw function.

Fixing a chromakey edge

Often when chromakeying, a key colour edge is left around the main figure (see below). This can be caused by variations in how the image is processed within the camera and colour spill from the background plate.  Unfortunately, it cannot be simply removed by increasing the chromakey range without normally ‘eating away’ at the edges of the main figure image.

Stop MotionMaker Advance has a function called ‘Smooth Chroma Edge’. This function  can be used to greatly reduce the chroma edge and as a bi-product also reduce the hard image transition edge noticeable on most chromakey processing.  This produces a more realistic look to the image (see second image below).
